Fifth Biennial International Conference on Music Since 1900 - Call for scores
As part of the Fifth Biennial ICMSN in York, Ensemble 360 will workshop five pieces on Wednesday, 8 July, and perform them on the opening concert of the conference, on 9 July. The available instrumentation is: fl, ob, cl, hn, 2vn, va, vc, pf. Works may use any combination of these instruments. The duration of the piece should be stated on the score and should not exceed 15 minutes. BBC Proms Composer Labs and Young Composers' competition
Anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 can enter the competition and participate in the Composer Labs and music can be in any style. The entries are judged by a panel of top composers from varied musical fields and the winning pieces are performed in concert by professional musicians in the BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composers Concert at Cadogan Hall on 17 August 2007, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3. AFNOM 2007 ‘New for Old Commission’
All composers are invited to write a short work (or collection of works) for an Iberian baroque organ. Concerts will be given on the historic 1789 António Xavier Machado e Cerveira organ in the Basilica da Estrela (Lisbon) towards the end of 2007, featuring as many new works as possible. The concert will be recorded and details of each score will be made available in the same way as the festival’s exhibition-concerts.
Compositions must be:
- between 3 and 10 minutes in duration
- original in style (not pastiche)
- clearly presented (preferably type set)
- within the manual compass of the instrument
It is not a requirement that all works are new. If some have already been performed, it is still acceptable to submit them.
